The universe as a computer

Mathematics is said to be the language of the universe, but lately I have thought that it is more a description of the universe. If there is such a thing as a language of the universe, it should be binary code. The universe seems to be composed of contingent events—that is, events that may or may not occur. A photon may or may not pass through a slit when fired toward it, an asteroid may or may not collide with a planet, and a species may or may not survive in the evolutionary chain. Since the universe is a set of contingent events, it is a set of zeros and ones; it is a computer. The reality we perceive is the result of a computation, a universe, and in the multiverse every computation is possible; therefore, every result is real.
